I just crossed a significant threshold — just completed 21 consecutive days without complaining, criticizing, gossiping or sarcasm . This 21 day challenge is a concept from Will Bowen, the spark behind A Complaint Free World, http://www.acomplaintfreeworld.org, or http://www.willbowden.com.
The concept is pretty simple. A person wears a purple silicone bracelet on their wrist, and moves it to the other wrist if they complain, gossip, criticize or are sarcastic. Some people wear a rubber band if they don’t have the “official” bracelet.
Another important requirement is knowing what day you are on. It actually took me nearly 90 days to refrain from complaining for 21 days. I went 8 days, then started over; went 9 days and started over; went 13 days and started over. Had a couple of one and two days, too. When I broke past the 16 day mark, I was determine to keep my mouth shut, and keeping my thoughts pointed towards forming a new habit.
This complaint free challenge ties in with some of the Master Key System principles. I will list nine of the numbers, but I will only write out three that yelled “pick me”. The nine are numbers 2,4, 10, 11, 13, 16, 31, 37 and 38.
Numbers 10, 11 and 13 spoke to me and are quoted below:
10. “Harmony in the world within means the ability to control our thoughts, and to determine for ourselves how any experience is to affect us.”
11. “Harmony in the world within results in optimism and affluence; affluence within results in affluence without.”
13. “If we find wisdom in the world within, we shall have the understanding to discern the marvelous possibilities that are latent in this world within, and we shall be given the power to make these possibilities manifest in the world without.”
Happiness, learning how to control my thoughts, focusing on solutions, and spotting the good in someone, are some of the resources I used to complete my first 21 days. I actually feel at peace and happier.
Now that I’ve done 21-days, it’s time for me to get my recognition — a certificate of happiness. The certificate is just a piece of paper. That paper signifies growth, persistence, wisdom, and a new thinking habit.
